chichenitzaChichen Itza… The Seven Wonder of the World…

This is easily the most famous site in the Yucatan Peninsula and the massive site takes at least a day to explore. Chichen Itza was founded in 445 AD. In 1204 AD was mysteriously abandoned. The city is divided into two areas. Old Chichen Itza, built between AD 600 and 900; and New Chichen, constructed in the 10th century. The buildings are characterized by a fusion of architectural styles, which reflect the influence of different cultures. Between 975 and 1200 AD warlike Toltecs from central Mexico invaded the Maya World. Their icons and gods represent their influence: jaguars, eagles, Tlaloc the Rain God, and Kukulcan the Feathered Serpent.

chichenitzaUxmal & Kabah…”The Three times built”

The city is located in a hilly region known as the “Puuc” region, a Mayan word for “mountain range” later given to the distinctive architectonic style of the archaeological sites in the region. It’s the most representative example of this style: The “Governor’s House” and “Temple of the Wizard”, 35 m. high, considered by experts as architectonic marvel for their precise construction and beauty. KABAH this is the second largest site in the Puuc region. At its peak around 800 A.D. Kabáh played a major part in the development of the Puuc region. It was connected to Uxmal by a Sacbé of 18 kilometers. This “white road” starts at the beautiful Arch of Kabáh.

This excursion is ideal for those who want to experience the thrill of exploring a Mayan ruin without investing the entire day as required by the distance of the other locations. Enjoy a refreshing swim in a large sinkhole called “Cenote de X’Lacah” after touring the ruins. Progreso. The secret it out! For years this port town was just a sleepy fishing village.
